Exploring & planning
Is WhatsOutsyde free for travellers?
Yes. Exploring the map, saving places, planning trips and asking the AI are free for travellers. Only tour operators, businesses, guides and drivers pay for a listing plan.
What if an event I RSVP’d to is cancelled or full?
If the organiser cancels it, or skips one date of a weekly event, we tell you in the app, by push and by email (with an account). The event page says so too. When an event is full, RSVPs close. Can’t go any more? Tap “Can’t make it?” on the event page to give your place back.
How do I find things to do near where I’m staying?
Tap the FROM button at the top of the map and pick your town (or use your location). The map, drive times and taxi estimates re-centre around it. Open Discover to browse by type — tours, food, beaches, nightlife — or see everything as a list.
What does the Verified badge mean?
Verified means WhatsOutsyde has checked the place: it is on the Jamaica Tourist Board’s Visit Jamaica listings, or we confirmed it ourselves. The map starts with Verified places only. “All places” (in the FROM menu, or “Show all places” in Discover) reveals the rest of the marketplace, including places we haven’t verified — you’ll be asked to accept a short notice first, as you use those at your own risk.
How do I save places and plan a trip?
Tap the heart on a place to save it, or the briefcase to add it to a day of your trip. Use Plan to build your days. Sign in and your saves and trips sync to your account, so they survive a lost phone.
Can I use my trip without internet?
Yes. Open your trip and tap “Save this trip for offline”. The places and the map around them are stored on your phone so they still load with no signal.
Can I use WhatsOutsyde in another language?
Yes. Pick your language when you first open the app, or change it any time from your Account page.
Where do I find deals and offers?
Open Discover and tap “Deals & offers nearby”, or go to the Deals page. Offers are posted by local operators, guides and businesses and show until they expire.
Bookings & payments
How do I book a tour or experience?
Open a place and tap View Details. “Request to book” sends your request to the operator to confirm. Some operators offer “Instant book”, which confirms straight away once you pick a date. Your requests and their status are in My bookings.
How do I pay?
WhatsOutsyde doesn’t take card payments for experiences today. Once a booking is confirmed you pay the operator directly — on WhatsApp, in cash, or however they usually take payment.
How do I cancel a booking or get a refund?
Cancel from My bookings. Cancellation terms and refunds are between you and the operator, because you pay them directly. If something went wrong — a no-show or a cancellation — use “Report a problem” on the booking and our team will follow up.
Do I need an account to book?
No. As a guest you confirm your email with a one-time code before we send your request. With a free account you skip the code and can see all your bookings in one place.
Drivers & guides for travellers
How do I get a driver?
Tap “Get a driver” on a place card, or open Drivers from Book a local. Set your pickup on the map or use your location, and optionally offer a fare. Drivers who cover the area see your request; the first to accept takes the trip, and you then see who they are and can watch them arrive on the map.
Can I cancel a ride request?
Yes — before or after a driver accepts. Open My rides and tap cancel on the trip. You can also raise your offer there while you wait.
How do I stay safe on a ride?
Once a driver accepts you can see their name, vehicle and live location. From My rides you can share a trip link with someone you trust, and Safety on your Account page lets you share your location. Read our safety standards for more.
How do I book a local guide?
Open Find a guide, search where you’re headed and pick a date to see who’s free. Message a guide on WhatsApp, request a private tour with one guide, or send one request to every free guide in the area — the first to pick it up replies to you.
Account & privacy
I forgot my password
On the sign-in screen tap “Forgot password”. We’ll email you a link to set a new one. Signed in already? You can change it from your Account page.
Where are my confirmations and reminders?
In Notifications on your Account page — booking confirmations, trip reminders and updates all land there.
How do I delete my account?
Open your Account page and choose Delete account. It’s permanent — your account and the data tied to it are removed, and it can’t be undone.
What do you do with my data?
We only use it to run WhatsOutsyde — your bookings, trips and the requests you send. Our Privacy Policy explains what we keep, for how long, and your choices.
For drivers
How do I start driving with WhatsOutsyde?
Create an account, choose Driver, then open Drive. Add the areas you drive, your WhatsApp number and sign the one-time driver declaration — then tap Go online. Adding your vehicle, a photo, an identity selfie and your documents builds traveller trust.
How do ride requests reach me?
While you’re online, trips whose pickup or drop-off is in a parish you cover show up in Requests. First to accept gets the trip, and you then get the traveller’s number to arrange the pickup.
What does it cost to drive?
The Driver plan will be US$20 a month. During launch it’s free until 1 December 2026, and card payments aren’t switched on yet, so nothing is charged. Travellers pay you directly, so you keep 100% of every fare.
Which documents do I need, and what about expiry dates?
Upload a government photo ID, your PPV / taxi licence and your vehicle insurance (a fitness certificate and TRN help too). Ride requests reach you once we’ve approved your PPV / taxi licence and insurance — they’re checked automatically, usually within minutes, and a person looks at any that aren’t clear — and we’ll message you when we have. Add the expiry date on each — we’ll remind you 30 days and 7 days before it lapses, and on the day, so you can upload the renewed copy in time.
Who can see my location?
No one while you’re waiting for trips. Once you accept a trip, only that traveller can see you on the map, so they can watch you arrive.
For guides
How do I get listed as a guide?
Create an account, choose Guide and fill in My profile — the parishes you cover, languages, specialties, your rate and a photo. You appear in Find a guide for your parishes on days you haven’t blocked on your calendar.
How do tour requests reach me?
Travellers can request a private tour with you directly, or send an open request to every free guide in a parish. You get an alert for open requests in your parishes — the first guide to claim one gets it. Both land in Requests.
How do I get the Verified badge?
Upload a government photo ID and your TPDCo tour-guide licence in your profile. A member of our team reviews every document by hand. Add the expiry date on each and we’ll remind you 30 days and 7 days before it lapses, and on the day. If your TPDCo licence expires you’re hidden from Find a guide and don’t get open requests until you upload the renewed copy.
For tour operators & businesses
How do I list my tours or my business?
Create an account and choose Tour operator or Business. Set up your company profile, then add your tours, experiences or venue as listings from your dashboard.
How do bookings work for my business?
Booking requests land in Bookings. Tap Confirm once you’ve spoken to the traveller. If you turn on Instant book, bookings with a date arrive already confirmed. Payment is between you and the traveller — WhatsOutsyde doesn’t take a cut of it.
Can I post deals and events?
Yes. Post limited-time offers on the Deals page, and set up events so travellers can find and RSVP to them — one-off or repeating every week, with a limit on places if you need one. If you cancel an event or skip one date, everyone who RSVP’d with an account is told straight away.
Can I price in J$ and add a menu?
Yes. On your listing’s Edit screen, set “Prices in” to J$ and type your prices in Jamaican dollars — travellers viewing in J$ see exactly those, others see them converted. You can also add a menu or price list there (or paste one in, one item per line) and it shows on your listing.
What do the plans cost?
Plans are listed on the Membership page with what each includes. During launch, any paid plan is free until 1 December 2026 (one free offer per business), and nothing is charged until card payments are switched on.
How do I see how my listings are doing?
Open Analytics to see how many travellers viewed each listing, tapped to WhatsApp you or added it to a trip, plus your ratings.
